| This 3-view drawing is reproduced from the Harleyford publication Reconnaissance & Bomber Aircraft of the 1914-1918 War, page 49. So much has be written about the BE.2 series whose basic design was a pre-war one. Subsequent iterations b, c, d, e, and so on, were attempts to improve the aircraft's performance but did little to improve its surviveability. In Belgian service, the BE.2c was used exclusively in the army cooperation role (recon, artillery fire direction, photography). Several had their puny 90hp motor replaced by a larger 150hp motor which improved its performance. |
