NIEUPORT 23 3-VIEW DRAWING
This 3-view drawing is from French Aircraft of the First World War by Davilla and Soltan (see bibliography). As with many Nieuport exports, the Nieuport 23 was no exception but and featured only slight improvement unless its rotary engine of 110 hp was upgraded to 120 hp which seems to have been done often.  The intent of the Nieuport 23 was to incorporate un-noticeable changes to the lower wing structure and strength to prevent somewhat common mishaps of lower wing failure in the Nieuport 17.  Russia purchased a large lot of this aircraft and had Dux begin manufacturing it. Successful on the Russian front it was already outclassed by German  two-gun fighters. Nieuport continued development of this design through the Nieuport 23, 24, 25, and 27 but could never outclass German fighter development after 1917.


THE MODEL TO BE BUILT
The model to be built is Nieuport 23 N.3374 flown by Russian ace Vasiliy Yanchenko with 13+ victories.  This profile was created by Alexander Kazakov and appeared in Aeronaut Books' Russian Aces of WW1 (see bibliography below). Yanchenko scored his last four victories (3 plus one probable) flying this aircraft between 21 September and 14 October 1917.
