For my first editorial I have to say something about the absence of military miniatures produced by American sculptors and manufacturers.  Having been in this art form since the 1970's (professionally since 1980), I have not seen an American equivalent of the military miniatures produced by Italy, Spain, and France, to name a few.  We in this country seem to be consumed by Dungeons and Dragons and the naked women in every absurdity.  However, I understand the marketing and the taste for these things by American consumers.  Nonetheless, it is unfortunate because we have such an illustrious military history that only Americans can convert to military miniatures art.  Where is the metal 54mm scale series on the uniforms of the American Revolution?  What about a series on late-19th Century American military arms?  How about a series on famous historical military personalities?  General Nathaniel Greene in the Southern campaign of the Revolutionary War?  General Winfield Scott in the War of 1812?

I am referring specifically to the level of sculpting and casting as performed in Europe.  We do have a few US-based producers in Imrie Miniatures and Michael Roberts Ltd, to name a few.  On the one hand Imrie's castings are "over the hill" and need to be reworked or discarded.  Michael Roberts produces resin castings which are artistically fine except they are cast in resin, a not too popular medium.  Where are the US equivalents to Pegaso of Italy, Art Girona of Spain, Métal Modèles of France?
