Historex Kit HXTH01 represents a trooper of the early period of the Chasseurs d'Afrique circa 1840. The Troupes de la Armee d'Afrique were formed beginning in 1831 with the landing in Algeria. The Chasseurs d'Afrique (French natives) and the Spahis (African natives) formed the mounted arm of the army. The infantry was composed of Zouaves and Tirailleurs.
