The Royal Horse Artillery was authorized in 1793 to keep pace with the then accepted concept of providing light-weight, fast-moving artillery for the cavalry. All gunners were mounted on horses or rode vehicles so as to keep pace with cavalry. During an engagement of mixed arms (infantry and cavalry, more often than not, it was the horse artillery that provided quick response to battlefield situations because of their mobility. Originally equipped with 6-pounder guns, these were eventually replaced by the hard-hitting 9-pounder. |

CONVERSION KITS - kit series 837.1xx will make a mounted RHA artilleryman and kit series 837.2 will make an RHA artilleryman on foot. Sufficient spare arms and legs allow for animation options and conversion. |
